Subjects and Classes

Rhythms is organized into subjects and classes.

At this time, Rhythms has 5 key subject areas: Frameworks, Relational, Psychological, Spiritual, and Physical.

Under each of these subject areas are a total of 11 classes. New classes will be added every month!

Rhythms: Frameworks

Classes and Key Learning Objectives:

1) An Introduction to the Rhythms of Wholistic Self-Care

  • Focuses on understanding the rhythms of self-care: what they are, what they do, and why they are important.
  • Define self-care.
  • Understand why self-care is important.
  • Begin thinking about the strategy of sustainable self-care versus a “shotgun” approach.

2) A Wholistic Approach

  • Introduce the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model. You will learn how to think about health from a wholistic perspective and why it is necessary for healthy life rhythms.
  • Understand the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model of self-care.
  • Begin setting goals for change and growth in your physical, psychological, relational, and spiritual health. These goals will guide how you think about your own journey through the Rhythms series.

3) Lasting Change

  • Understand Levels of Change: What we believe has authority over what we think, feel, and do.
  • Identify the levels of change from which you have typically tried to operate.
  • Identify different changes that can be made to increase the likelihood that the changes you make in the Rhythms series will last.

Rhythms: Relational

Classes and Key Learning Objectives:

1) Rhythms of Relational Self-Care

  • Understand healthy relationships and what you need to look for in a relationship. You will also learn the three different types of relationships that we all need and how to find and engage in them.
  • Understand and explain how relationships impact the way you experience yourself.
  • Know the three kinds of relationships that we all need and how to move towards finding them.

2) Forgiveness

  • Forgiveness is often a misunderstood concept and therefore avoided. 
  • The benefits of forgiveness.
  • Understand and articulate what forgiveness is.
  • Understand and articulate what forgiveness is not.
  • Learn how to forgive someone in a way that sets you free from bitterness or resentment and puts you on a path towards a more abundant life.

3) Boundaries

  • Boundaries are an essential part of navigating relationships in a healthy way that fosters order and clarity.
  • Understand what boundaries are.
  • Discover misconceptions and what holds us back from healthy boundaries.
  • Learn how to put them into practice.

Rhythms: Psychological

Classes and Key Learning Objectives:

1) Rhythms of Psychological Self-Care

  • Psychological self-care is often neglected. Usually, this is not on purpose; we are just “surviving.” This module helps you reset and begin to take care of the three aspects of your soul: mind, will, and emotions.
  • Define psychological self-care.
  • Understand four key components that impact psychological self-care.
  • Learn five helpful strategies to develop and sustain a healthy soul, such as gratitude journaling and creating a soul care “go-to” list.
  • Begin to label and process emotions in healthy ways.

2) The Core Psychological Skill of Processing Emotions and Experiences

  • It’s one thing to take authority over a given moment, but you also need the ability to process that experience and learn from it. Develop a core psychological skill to learn from your experiences.
  • Understand the concept of processing experiences.
  • Understand and articulate “the anatomy of an experience.”
  • Practice tolerating and attending to unwanted experiences in order to better understand the experience and yourself.
  • You’ll receive an exercise that teaches you what an experience record is and how to use it—step by step.

Rhythms: Spiritual

Classes and Key Learning Objectives:

1) Know Your Why

  • Begin to understand meaning and purpose in your life and how living intentionally can help you thrive.
  • Write a personal, meaningful mission statement.
  • Write core values that will guide your decisions and actions.
  • Develop meaningful strategies and goals that help you live missionally.

2) Hearing God

  • Learn five questions to ask yourself to help you build trust that God is speaking to you.
  • Learn how to have patience in the process of discerning God’s voice in your life.
  • Experience the transforming power of God's voice.

Rhythms: Physical

Classes and Key Learning Objectives:

1) Rhythms of Physical Self-Care

  • Physical health can be a tough area for many of us. This module helps you create and sustain healthy rhythms of physical self-care in three main areas: exercise, nutrition/diet, and sleep.
  • Understand some of the science behind physical self-care and how taking care of our bodies positively impacts our soul, relationships, and spirit.
  • Develop and implement practical strategies that promote physical health through exercise, nutrition/diet, and sleep.
  • Develop a physical health “go-to” list that helps cue you when distracted.
